"Shine GIF"
"Shine GIF" allowed me to delve into the animation functions of photoshop.
Process
I started by taking the "Gritty Glowing Text" image that I had previously made and creating a copy of the actual text layers. I wanted to try and use a simple linear path to make a bar that shines across the text. To do this I created a white selection and transformed it to be at an angle. I then applied a Gaussian Blur to it and decreased the opacity. Next, to create the actual movement I created a "Frame Animation" under the "Timeline" window of photoshop. Only two frames were use initially, one where the white shine stripe was moved all the way off the left side of the picture, and the other with it moved all the way off the right side of the picture. All the frames in between were created using the "Tweens Frames" option where I selected how many frames I wanted in between the two initial ones. Note that you have to select your current two frames and create a clipping mask to the text layer for the white shine stripe to be applied to it. In this case, I added 30 tweens frames. All of the frames so far have a duration of 0 seconds so that it instantly switches between them. At the very end, I added a frame without the white shine stripe with a duration of 2 seconds to create a pause after every cycle. Another note is that after you "save for web" and select the GIF option, the GIF will play the animation at different speeds dependent on what browser or program you are using to play it.
