"Halloween"
"Halloween" developed my skills on how to make fog, use adjustment layers effectively, and blend colors through another layer.
Process
After finding a good picture of the woods with features that draw attention to the center of the picture, I blended in a picture of a muddy road with adjustments.
Next, I added in a grim reaper costume for effect, and added the fog layers. The fog layers were created by rendering "Clouds" and setting the blending mode to "Screen." I made 3 different layers with different opacities and zoom to change the effect for the foreground, mid-ground, and background.
After that, I applied another filter to darken the image and balance the colors, as well as add glowing eyes and a mouth to the reaper.
One last detail was necessary; a moon. After masking out the edges of the moon, I adjusted the layer style option that blends colors on different layers. I adjusted the blacks on the underlying layer so that the tree branches blended through the moon and appeared in front. Adding a white outer glow on the moon made it more ambient and finished up the project.
