Match The Font
Match the font is a useful practice exercise where you take a picture of a font, and then try to recreate it in photoshop. Lord of the Rings was the most challenging, with the need for many many effects such as drop shadow, bevel and emboss, texture, satin, and color overlay. In addition to messing around with these effects to get them just right, you had to use a special brush that acted as a chisel to rough up and cut out parts of the lettering. Avatar was challenging in the way of using proper colors, masks, and layer. The fluctuations in color was very hard to recreate. The use of an inverted mask and a white brush was my best friend when it came to making these fluctuations, Dracula was a simple task of getting the inner and outer glow to match up perfectly to give you a sharp yellow outline. Furthermore, the curvature and spacing of the text needed to be adjusted.
